Like the American ones, but homemade.
When I travel abroad, they catch my attention every time and I always like to try different ones! They are ideal to enjoy for breakfast or as a snack with a glass of milk, with a sweet and buttery flavour… Their texture is crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, oh my! It’s no surprise that everyone loves them.
Preparation: 15 min + 2h in the fridge
Cooking: 10-15 min
Total: 30 min + rest
Difficulty level: medium
INGREDIENTS
- 180 gr butter
- 150 gr brown sugar
- 100 gr granulated sugar
- 250 gr 00 flour
- 100 gr Manitoba flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- Half a teaspoon of bicarbonate
- A generous pinch of salt
- 1 vanillia
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 150 gr dark chocolate chips
- Brown sugar and chocolate chips for garnish
METHOD
In a large bowl, place the soft butter (advice: leave it for a couple of hours at room temperature or soften it slightly in the microwave), the granulated sugar and the brown sugar, blend with an electric whisk. Add the honey, vanilla and salt, continuing to mix. You need to obtain a creamy and uniform mixture; add the eggs one at a time and always whip at high speed. Finally add the 00 and manitoba flour (if you don’t have any, just the 00 is enough), the yeast and the bicarbonate of soda, lastly the chocolate chips.
The cookie dough is ready!
Cover with cling film and leave to rest in the fridge for at least 2 hours (you can leave it even longer or overnight). Once the indicated time has elapsed, we take the dough and work it with our hands, forming small balls (if you want to obtain biscuits of the same ‘size’ between each other you will have to weigh the individual balls, otherwise do them roughly), you can then press them lightly in the brown sugar and chocolate chips. Once the dough is finished, place them on a baking tray covered with baking paper, well spaced apart. Cook in a very hot, static oven in the central part at 170 degrees for 12 minutes. When you take them out they will have spread out on the tray and will still be soft. Don’t worry, let them cool and enjoy them!
